Hey everyone, hope you all had a great Memorial weekend and honored all the soldiers who gave their life so we can have our freedoms. It was so hot and humid I only went into the garden early in the morning. Even then I was sweating like a pig! The weekend was spent on more kitchen nook changes.
The last post on the cottage kitchen nook still had the bookcase by the window, click here. Since then I’ve moved it out and tried several different pieces in its place. The bookcase had to go because it blocked my view to my gardens!!!!!
I even tried putting an ironing board in it place? Didn’t work…what I missed the most was having the ledge to hold plants and a whole lot more. But it was more important to me to have my view open to my gardens…the bookcase can come back in in fall.
A lighter, summer look, is what I was after. The summer kitchen table was moved closer to the window. Adding one of my favorite vintage lines became the base for the vignette.
My favorite wicker tray housed a milk glass lamp and fresh flowers added. Using an enamel pans for flower vase adds a more relaxed cottage look.
The flowers were found last week at Aldi’s? Gosh I love that store…
My favorite chippy garden bench placed in front of the table helps set the relaxed summer feel for the kitchen nook changes.
To me you can never have too many linens….liking how the yellow fabric plays with the blues on the walls…
Fresh flowers (carnations and roses) cut from my gardens to nestled in vintage bottle on the window frames.
Its wonderful to once again walk out to the gardens to cut fresh flowers for inside….
So happy with the kitchen nook changes….a summerly, relaxed look. Also so happy to see my garden from anywhere, not having to stand just in front of the bookcase to see them. The garden pond is running….and our wildlife children enjoy showering and drinking from the waterfall.
It took several tries using different items before this came together. Sometimes when changes are made they expect it to happen on the first try…sometimes it does. But don’t give up to easily, work at it, and it will work.
Love sitting here every morning in the silence of the day…looking out the window, watching the wildlife and looking out on my gardens. It soothes and settles my soul!
