When I was young Mama always set up a nativity set under the tree. We always had a big tree so it was no problem seeing it snug and tucked underneath…on top a very lovely tree skirt Mom would make.
Since the Charmer is not a large house we’ve always settled our Christmas tree in the corner. This didn’t give us a good view of the nativity set. Last year for the first time we used a smaller tree 4 1/2″ high…and put it in the corner. The nativity set was settled on bottom shelf…but we still couldn’t see it.
This year we brought a fresh 4 1/2 foot tall tree, but we didn’t put it in the corner (pictures tomorrow). The nativity set is front and center on the corner table top, I’m looking at it now…
This year of all years I wanted the Nativity set up…I wanted, needed, to see it this year. The reason we are celebrate Christmas.
I bought this set about 25 years ago…do you see the cross in the back of the stable…
The cross is over 65 years old…it came on the casket of Mr. Charmer’s maternal grandmother. It was given to Mr. Charmer by the funeral home because he was the oldest grandchild, I guess that was the custom back then?
Last week I shared how I wrapped the lampshade in ribbon…
and made and hung a fresh boxwood garland. I hung it using a medium size rectangular lace runner..
On the second self of the table I placed a large wire basket filled with ornaments and some fresh greens from the garden.
I hope you enjoyed seeing out Christmas Nativity Vignette..
Have you used a Nativity set in your decorating this year?
