Hello sweet friends and thank you for stopping by! Winter is here in IL. Weather predicts 6″of snow falling then dropping to the low 20’s. We were able to get all the holidays decorations in storage underneath the kitchen nook. Does this happen to you, you get everything put away and then you find a piece or two you missed? Hence driving me crazy!
I do love winter entailing the cold and snow. It’s a time for renewal and rejuvenation which I am badly in need of. Last year was full of big projects. As a result we didn’t enjoy summer with all the house projects going on. Not until fall that did we start enjoying the nice weather in Minnie Driv’r.
My new china hutch was a great place to start with a winter time vignette.
The vignette started with draping a length of pompom trim draped over the top left over from a pillow project. My word for this year is “simplify” which I plan on doing! Probably what my spirit needs the most this year.
My Currier and Ives blue and white dishes, Old Grist Mill, found at thrift stores, was manufactured by Royal China Company, Sebring, Ohio. Back in the day, 60’s, they were offered at grocery stores for a small price after purchases were made . Some items have back stamps, some do not. Back stamps do not make a piece more valuable. Some pieces have USA imbedded in the bottom.
My milk glass is growing and these are just a some my collection that were recently added. I just love the candlesticks.
In the top of the candlesticks white capped trees were placed inside. They fit perfectly where the candlestick would be housed, almost meant to be.
Pulled out an ironstone pitcher a L.O.V.E wood sign tucked in the back and a birds nest with a yarn and snow balls. A white tree tucked in back of the nest and a bunch of dried Lilly of the Valley Flowers. One of my favorite garden flowers to dry is Lilly of the Valley and enjoy its delicate appeal.
I could sit and look at this all day and feel calmness when I do.
The cardboard houses and deer were a 75% off at Jo Anne’s. I never would of paid $15 bucks for them? Would you?
A snowfall is expected tomorrow which will create an outside winter vignette. outside as the ground is covered in snow ….I just love a good snowfall. We’re headed up to Wisconsin to see our grandkids tomorrow and hope the roads are good, it a two hour trip.
There are so many great posts I didn’t’ get to and time ran in to the holidays so I’ll be sharing several of these later one.
