Windows Renovation and Undo – The Reveal

This has been a long arduous task...

BUT - the results were so worth it.

In the beginning - Part I - Dismantling

and

Part II - Reconditioning

The Before

UG.LY trim (so sorry for quality)

Then came sanding stripping, conditioning and staining.

We hired a finishing carpenter to duplicate our homes original molding...

The After

So happy with the results.

Since all of the house trim is white (dark windows/doors) we painted the new window trim white also.

I fell in love with Annie Sloan Old White, used it here, and will update the rest of the house with it also.

Makes for good flow!

Hike the curtains, Jack! Don't need to them drop them, No more No more No More!

Gosh I just love it...now 8 more to do!

  1. Cathy, your windows are beautiful! My husband spends hours re-doing all of the windows on our RENTALS! Crazy, but they are historical and he wants to keep them that way.

    • Thanks Mandy, I totally understand why your husband wants to "preserve" the integrity of your rental. Or home is near 90 years old and unbeknownst to my husband, that's why I wanted to too!

  3. Your windows turned out beautiful. I have, in an old home we once owned, refinished the windows...you know the kind, with the sash and weights. I had to take the entire window apart to refinish them. I know how hard it is to do that.

    Yours turned out great!

  5. Stopping by via Southern Savvy. Beautiful job on the windows.
We live in an older home too and will eventually have to do this to ours.

  6. Great job! Love your home!

  7. Amazing! I love old homes and I love that you are bringing yours back to a whole new life. We lived in a 1930's home so I know all about the hard work that goes into them.
