Our deck re.jue.ve.na.tion project feels like it has been going on FOREVER and has FOUGHT us every step of the way! We started back in mid-June by creating a Project List and we quickly began crossing off items from our list. We always wanted the deck project to be on our top 10 list, but just never did for one reason or another! We were so excited to finally tackle this project!
We were just entering the third week of the deck project when it came to a dead halt! While replacing some deck boards Mr. Charmer cut his left index finger. It was a small cut, we didn’t give it a second thought. But we should have, within 3 days Mr. Charmer was told he could lose his finger. The infection was swift and severe. He had surgery and weeks of hydrotherapy. Fast forward 1 month and we were back on track. Yeah!
Or so we thought! It didn’t last but a few days before our beloved Laid Back Bo became very sick. His spleen had become constricted, surgically removed, and his prognosis was uncertain. Bo spend 4 days in intensive care unit at the University of Illinois Veterinary Hospital. Bo finally took a turn for the better and we were overjoyed to bring him home Sunday. Bo’s recovering slow, but steady!
Hear Yea, Hear Yea! We’re here to tell you – we’re back on track, again! NO MORE DETOURS (unless good ones) will be tolerated! Actually the weather hasn’t been exactly cooperating either, it’s been so HOT and HUMID and severe THUNDERSTORMS. The weather has been making it difficult to be outside working (I love winter).
So we’ve been busy little beavers. The last deck post was on the Six Soldiers Standing in an Row!
The “shutter” soldiers were a find from CL, 20 buckaroo’s for all six of them. We’re using them on the deck, they won’t be anywhere near a window, will add an architectural element and will provide privacy.
Are you ready? Don’t want to keep you waiting so here’s a sneak peak….
Our deck sits about 2 feet higher off the ground than our neighbors to the North. So there’s NO privacy when we are out on our deck. Privacy has always been a big thing to me – as 1 of 10 children – there was no such thing as privacy – NOT even in the bathroom. There was always someone pounding on the door telling you to hurry up.
Oh sorry, I let myself get side tracked. Back to the project at hand – the shutter privacy screen is the starting point of providing us the privacy we’ve been hoping for. I put together a tutorial for the shutter screen here.
Hope this wets your appetite to see more!!! A new post coming soon!!!
Pray for cooler weather, but I just seen the weather forecast is for HOT and HUMID! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
