Pansies come to mind when I think of Spring because they are a great cold hardy flower for IL. It’s typically one of the first flowers planted in our flower box outside the front door. The last few years while thrifting I’ve kept an eye out for some pansy dishes. I’ve only been able to find three…I rarely come across them.
Last week I found a very pretty pansy watercolor picture. I’ve been so envious of all the great watercolors being shared (iPhone Waterlogue app.) in blog land. Since I don’t have an iPhone and won’t be buying one soon…the pansy picture soothed my envy just a bit….not much, but a bit!
I also found some pretty vintage tea towels…and I could envision instantly our Spring mantel vignette! I used my
new old vintage tea towels and my pansy watercolor with the dishes as the foundation for our Spring vignette.
That’s what I planned on doing….unfortunately….I am a bull in a China shop. It’s make no sense anymore for me to keep denying it, or making excuses for myself, I am a bull in a China shop. Plain and simple!
Today was the 1st chance I’ve had to play with the vignette… and things were going really well. The vintage tea towels were hung over a few strands of pink ribbon across the window screen.
The colors of the tea towel felt like the a warm spray of Spring, each towel was a $1.00.
As usual all the items were thrift store finds and the Pansy theme continued by placing some in the green bowl?. It’s the prettiest shade of green. A yellow bee vase and cute bowl filled with a birds nest.
The other side has the same cute little bowl with orange Johnny-Jump Ups. The cute little chick was $0.10.
I planned placing the three pansy plates on the top window screen ledge….but guess what happened?
No surprise, it fell off the ledge…I was so bummed! Two plates were smaller and one larger like a dinner plate. Using the two plates on the ledge didn’t look balanced like the three did together.
The plate above is the smaller one, all three plates were made in Limoges, France. I feel like such a klutz..this plate traveled all the way France and I break it!
The larger plate from Limoges, France. I just found this soup tureen and it’s not really Springish but I needed some color to balance out both side.
I always feel so behind…I’m still doing 4 times a week therapy, but am really improving. The last two weeks I’ve been able to sit straight up in my chair (not angled back) without any pain! Not complaining but therapy does take a lot of time. I think I have 3-4 weeks of doing 4 times a week and then I will drop down to 2 a week!!!!
Our weather was nice over the last few days…but it’s getting colder again. This truly has been the longest winter e.ver!
