Valentine Hoop Art

Valentine Hoop Art

I’ve been in a crafting mood lately and with Valentine’s right around the corner it’s been easy to become inspired.  I love all the hoop art you see across blogland and decided to make some Valentine Hoop Art. It’s a fun and easy project to do, plus I have so many hoops I’ve pick up at thrift stores.

Valentine Hoop Art

I have a love/hate relationship with fabric – oh I love fabric and have a very nice stash, but I hate that it takes me for.e.ver looking for the right colors and combinations for a project.  It usually means going to at least 4-5 stores. But I was lucky this time, other than the fabric I already had the rest were purchased at Hobby Lobby.

Valentine Hoop Art

The polka dot, red ticking and darker green fabric I had on hand. I used embroidery floss back stitch (backstitch video) to “write” out love. On the bottom I sewed (or glue) fabric squares together and then sewed on top of fabric (or glue).

The fabrics and small pompoms were from HL.  Sew two coordinating fabrics in half together and tack down pom poms on top.

Red Ticking Valentine Hoop

Both these fabrics I had and like how using the red embroidery floss helped high lite the heart buttons. I appliqued around a heart (you could do a hand blanket stitch) and added the buttons.

I fell in love with this red/pink rose material, also from HL.

I like how they all work together and will make a nice grouping.

I think I’m going to make one or maybe two more.

Have you been making any hoop art for Valentines Day?

I love the look of hoop art, and even bought materials to try it out, but haven’t done it yet! You’ve inspired me to take my things out and get to work. I’m pinning this :)

These are so pretty! I think my favorite is the red and white stripe with the contrasting little green heart. I do love that floral fabric though…I recently bought a few fat quarters online that are similar to that

Seriously love these! They coordinate so well together. I have been on the lookout for some Valentines Day decor projects and may have to give this one a try. Thanks!

I love these ideas! I cross-stitched some when I was younger, which is when I used hoops, but I can’t say I ever thought of making them into “art” in and of themselves. I love it! I’m foreseeing a trip to Hobby Lobby in the very near future… :)
