I’ve never dabbled in card making, or any kind of paper crafts before. I’ve been making some of Mr. Charmer’s Valentine Gifts and decided it would be fun to make a Valentine Fabric Scrap Card for him.
It was an easy card to make and it was a good project to use some of my Valentine fabric scraps.
I used a 8 1/2 x 11 piece of white card stock, and cut it down to 7 x10.
Fold the card in half.
Trace a heart (2 1/2 x 2 1/2″) on the front side.
Cut out with an Exacto knife, and use a emery board to smooth any ruff spots.
Next I cut/sewed together different size fabric scraps in kind of a Lincoln Log quilt pattern.
The first two squares were 6/8 x 6/8. Just started added larger squares until I ended up with a square about 3 inches.
I played with the fabric placement in the card and decided to angle the fabric.
Secure it inside using glue stick.
I traced a dotted line 1/4″ outside the heart (I was a little heavy handed in my tracing).
Hand stitched around the heart using embroidery floss (six strands). I think I need to work on my hand stitching a bit. I forgot to take a picture but I but a thin paper lining inside to hide the back of the heart when opened.
A simple card, but I know Mr. Charmer will love it.
Have you been making any cards lately?
