Smiles peeps,
The weather has been so beautiful here,
and I've been outside every chance I can.
We had some badly needed rain lately, and there's only 1 plant in my garden that hasn't been happy about it is..

my Fairy Garden - I've had to keep it tilted to let the water run out!
One annual flower I use a lot in my garden is Dianthus.
It is a HEAVY re-seeder. Which means once you buy some - you won't have to again.

I use Dianthus (pinks on right side) in my gardens sunnier areas.
The Dianthus plants were planted in my containers over 3 years ago - just let the seeds drop down in to the container, and next spring they will sprout right where they fell.

The Dianthus in this container, darker pinks and red on right, come back every year!
It helps me keep my plant budget lower by using heavy re-seeders.

Dark red Dianthus

I like this mix of Dianthus - whites, pink and variegated pinks.

A close up of a few of them, white and pink mix.

A lovely dark pink with white edgings.

I love this one, shades of varying pinks.

Reds

Variegated

and so many more shades of pink!
So do your garden, and your pocketbook a favor - use Dianthus!

Your dianthus are just gorgeous, Cathy! I used to grow them, but they've kind of died out over time. I think my problem was I was growing them in too much shade. I will have to try again in a sunnier location, because you've inspired me!
