Its hard to believe 2016 is over. Each year seems to fly by faster and faster! I decided to share my top ten posts for 2016.
I think one of my most favorites things to do is to head out to thrift! As a result, most of the furniture, dishes, linens and nick knacks used in the Charmer are treasured thrift store finds. Thrift store finds provide functionality as well as style.
Without a doubt thrifting “allows” me to decorate in a cottage style affordably.
My t posts were both thrifting posts…
The majority of my quilts, throws and lace are thrift store treasures which I would NOT be able to afford otherwise. One of the most beautiful lace throws I have.
Another favorite activity is creating vignettes with my numerous vintage dishes. The majority of pieces used in the vignettes were thrift store scores. I included several pieces from my milk glass collection which is growing by the week.
We attended several vintage trailer rallies last year with Minnie! We love traveling with her and enjoy the vintage trailer family so much. This year we plan on doing some longer trips out. Our trips included KY, IN, OH, TN and MI. I had just finished making the red pin striped awning which was a real challenge.
I love spending time in our kitchen nook that face our gardens and pond. Then we switched cabinets out creating more of a cottage look. Colorful vintage linens added and a garden bench brought inside.
While out on our KY trip, above, I was lucky to find a quilt for our master bedroom. After having looked for a long time I found a gorgeous vintage quilt for less than $60. It was so worth the wait.
Once again used my vintage dishes to create summertime vignettes in the China hutch. I shared several pieces from my Blue Onion Canister set. Then I included my prized Finlandia dishes in another vignette.
We started a remodel in June which immediately took several bad turns. It was also a very hot summer late year. In the early mornings I would seek the solitude of the quiet I found in my gardens.
In June we completed a back porch project after being given three wooden doors from a fellow blogger. We wanted to block off an area on the North side of the porch. The door were perfect for the area and ended up working quite well. In the back area is where we have our grill and houses our a/c unit.
During Spring everything seems to have a new beginning. After finding some beautiful linens thrifting I gave my dressing room a new Spring look. Whenever I decorate the Charmer I aways try to listen to her to see if she is happy how she looks.
As much as I enjoyed sharing with you I hope you enjoyed taking a stroll down memory lane.
Before I go, I want to wish each of you a happy, healthy and bless New Year in 2017!
