Thrift Store Curtains…
A few weeks back I shared the curtains that I sewed for the banquette area in Minnie, our trailer. Since then I found a cute pair of cafe curtains at The thrift store!
FYI, instead of me keep saying the thrift store I volunteer at, I’ll just say, the thrift store.
I thought I had taken a photo in the package but can’t find it now. They were just perfect for the kitchen window by the sink.
After cutting the sides off it was easy to open the sides enough to create new side seams.
Since the width was shortened on each side I needed to move the sash ties toward the center. Then I just opened the seam with a seam ripper.
Then slipped the sash ties under the seam and sewed it closed.
The sheers that hang in the back were too short. Since the sheer header had a ruffled I just ripped the header out. Removing the header lengthened the sheers by another 1 1/2 in length.
Since removing the fabric and moving the tie sashes into the center they now fit the window better. Before the altering, the curtains looked all mashed together because there was just too much fabric.
They are just perfect…a little altering..make these red and white check cafe curtain perfect!
I often wonder what I would do without thrift stores…especially for thrift store curtains.
