Welcome, welcome! Every morning, with a cup of tea in hand, I walk my gardens. Each day can bring so many delightful surprises of new blooms with glorious color and thriving plants. This summer it seems there is a lot more wildlife activity going on. So many more bees and butterfly activity! The Zinnias seem to be their favorite meal!
Lately I’ve been taking my phone with me in the garden snapping photos since I’ve learned that by the time I run in to get my camera their gone! I have not been quick enough to catch a humming bird, they sure are quick.
Just a few minutes out in the garden today…there were several white butterflies fluttering around and never landed long enough to snap a photo, just keep flying around. Yesterday I saw a Blue Monarch who’s right wing was ripped off on the bottom… I was so happy when I saw it still was able to fly! Butterflies are not as fragile as we believe.
Butterfly wings break and scales come off their wings. Wings, nor their scales do not grown back. But butterflies can fly with 75% of their wings missing. So the good news is that butterfly wings and do break. If they did not break, they would often be eaten for lunch instead of flying away from a predator leaving a piece of wing in their peak, mouth or claws.
I’ve been thinking about sharing videos on cooking and gardening. This morning i recorded a short one of myself talking to a butterfly…I tried editing the first few seconds out but haven’t figured that out yet?
So be careful, the first five second are a little wompy. I also don’t know why I was talking baby talk? to the butterfly. Warming, my voice does not normally sound like this…or at least I hope so.
Seriously, that’s not my voice! Another video with an identical Monarch on the other side of the garden letting her know how pretty she is. The video takes about 10 seconds before it starts playing
Hope I’m not the only one who talks to her garden’s plants and wildlife. They are part of our family, our plant children and wildlife children. We watch them grow and care for them thought out the seasons.
I know the videos are really novice in skill…but that will grow over time… I promise.
Have a great day. Oh did anyone notice I have a brand new header and theme? It’s been up nearly a week and no one has said anything! What ya think?
