Even though the weather has cooled off a bit its been sunny outside. With today being the first day of Spring I gathered some vintage treasures to create a Spring mantel!
I created a simple vintage handkerchief bunting which is a very easy craft. With all my vintage linens using the handkerchiefs with all their glorious color would bring spring time colors in. You know how much I love color.
The vintage handkerchiefs were folded over a pink satin ribbon (1/4″) and secured using tiny pastel clothes pins found on clearance at Joann’s fabrics last year. Any end of season clearance is a great time to find buys!
I ripped strips (a casual look than cutting), about an inch wide, of ribbons and lace and tied to the ribbon.
On the mantel was a vintage linen since the winter holidays and wanting to “pretty” it up a bit…
lace doilies and runner were laid over the base linen in no particular size or shape.
Filled the left side with a birdhouse, blue flowers and a few birds.
I always look forward to bringing out my thrift store pansy oil painting! Love this. Bringing the pansy painting bring some blue to the right side of the mantel.
It wouldn’t be Spring mantel without the duck of painting either!
Several of my Lefton BlueJays were used on the other side. My knit bunny fit right in with the Spring fell.

Have you decorated your spring mantel? It’s a great way to bring in new life after a long winter and to add some fresh color to liven up a room
As always all the treasures, except the bunny I knit, were thrift store treasures! Speaking of treasures I need a fix real soon!
