Hello friends! The other day I shared with you that I was attending my second Sisters On the Fly (SOTF) event. This event, I Love Fall Camping, at Potato Creek, is a huge event. If you missed it, I “glammed up” Minnie a bit and you can see her here! I arrived Tuesday (l like to get there two days before actual events starts) and there were about 10 of us which makes it easier to meet fellow sisters.
Warming, don’t read if you are expecting great photos and no typos!
On Wednesday we went to Shipshewana, IN which was a lot of fun. That night we all gathered for a dinner and campfire till nearly 12 am. From what I understand our laughter could be heard throughout the state park and so many fellow campers stopped by to see what was going on the next day! A very fun night with so many laughs and meeting new friends.
Meal teams were formed weeks beforehand, and each day a breakfast and dinner was provided/hosted by each meal team. I was on the meal team for Thursday night welcome reception dinner.
The menu was tacos, rice/bean salad, appetizers and desserts. I’m standing behind the taller girl where the white arrow is. I prepared 60 servings of a Southwestern rice/bean/corn with a Chile Vinaigrette dressing. It was very well received!
Later that evening we sat by the fire, which we sure needed, since its been really cold! I woke up with such a hangover Friday morning:-;. But again so much fun.
Friday’s theme/celebration was Think Pink/Wear Pink in honor of Breast Cancer. In the morning breakfast was served, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy. No healthy meals served during the whole trip.
Friday evening was dinner and an auction!!!
When I walked in to the pavilion this awaited us! Isn’t it gorgeous. Children’s broom were bought and painted pink, on the front were paper “bras” and ribbon behind it. The table linen was a gorgeous pink flowered pattern and underneath stripped tablecloth.
Sorry about photos…the centerpiece for each table was a witch’s hat all clammed up! The place setting were so pretty too. The placemats were paper bags which you could store your items in.
Dinner consisted of 8 different kinds of soup, crackers, fruit and of course dessert.
Then the big moment of the auction came…..
Here are just some of the items that being auctioned off!
All proceeds goes toward sending a fellow sister, having breast cancer, to “fly fishing”. Tomorrow night we’ll find out how much we raised!
Each auction item was shown and the bidding started….
as the auctioneer kept track of the bidders….
After the auction, a tree was set up, which we gathered around..
And one by one dedicated a pink bow to someone we knew that has/died of cancer. Mine was dedicated to my Mom, who died of heart disease and ovarian cancer.
Guess what we did after, yep, sat around another bonfire until 2 am!
Gosh, this has been so much fun, and there’s so much more to come!
Got to go get! Need to get ready for the sock hop tonight!
