Simple Thanksgiving Tablescape…

Thanksgiving is in two days, and I am so far behind.  Our beloved Bo has been sick once again resulting in many trips to the vets, tears and the lingering questions parents face with our older pets. He's laying at my feet as I write this post, and he is content for now.

I had so many projects I wanted to do for Thanksgiving that went to the way side.  I pulled together a very simple thanksgiving tablescape. It will just be four of us, my brother, Ron and his girlfriend are coming over.

I was hoping to do something really special, but I'd rather have Bo laying at my feet.

I pulled together a quick table runner using landscape burlap with a fruit tapestry runner on top. I basically just pulled from vignettes around the room.

I started each place setting with an eyelet lace placemat, white ironstone plate, then my new finds Old Mill pattern dishes.  I just noticed in this photo I forgot to place the pumpkin on top.

I found 4 fabric thrift store pumpkins last year for a $1  to top each place setting with.

Just a simple setting.

We'll enjoy the warmth of a fire as we eat.

In the background I just found the Tom Tom platter, I wanted to use it on the table setting but it was too large.  Our drop leaf table isn't wide enough.

The centerpiece..a straw bundle, my favorite chicken ever..

the cloche (dried hydrangea inside) is sitting on a vintage cutting board..

and a little condiment set I found last week.

Simple is a comfort I need right now!

What tablescapes have you created?

  1. I'm really sorry to hear about Bo. Yours is the second sick doggy I've read about on blogs tonight. :-(

I think your tablescape is absolutely lovely. There's only going to be 4 of us here on T'giving, too. Me, my hubby, our son, and my mom.

I hope that Bo gets well soon and that you have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving!

  2. Oh, this makes me so sad, you can't imagine. I'm sooooo sorry to hear about Bo. It's terrible when a pet is sick, or worse, when their time is near. We lost our beloved dog the day after Christmas. I wrote a post about it, and it was somewhat cathartic to share the story. If you get a moment I hope you can read it. It might make you feel a bit better in a way. (I hope) http://www.househoneys.com/ode-to-puppies/

Your table is lovely! It will just be my husband and I tomorrow, so we're going to the dinner theatre to see Fiddler on the Roof. I hope you have a blessed day with your family, and I will be praying for your precious Bo to feel better.

  3. Beautiful table with amazing fall colors. Gorgeous shots.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones.
Hope to see you on my blog:)

  4. Sending healing skritches to Bo and a quick wish-and-prayer for a lovely Thanksgiving for you all! I love so many of the details of your "simple" table - the little crafty pumpkins and your sweet chicken are my favorites!

  5. Beautiful tablescape Cathy! Sorry to hear about Bo! It is hard to see your furbaby suffer.
    xx

  6. that looks pretty fancy to me! :) MY family was lucky that I went out into the yard and picked some dried grasses etc and stuck it all in a vase so to me...your tablescape is the height of fanciness :)

  7. I think this is the prettiest tablescape I have seen! I just love the items you've pulled together. It speaks home, family, and thanksgiving! Just beautiful.
