Patriotic Kitchen Nook

I think it's important to show our patriotism, especially during our current trying times. This year I really wanted to decorate to celebrate.

I quickly and inexpensively pulled together my take on a patriotic kitchen nook.

Since I haven't had our kitchen reveal yet I''m sharing our nook only.

Patriotic Tablescape

You know me by now,  every item used in our patriotic decor is a thrift find (flea, garage or dollar tree).

Patriotic Kitchen Nook

I started out by using a pretty red/white/blue square tablecloth that I found at the Marley flea Market last week.

I used dollar tree bandanas for the curtains, and chair covers.

Patriotic Tablescape

The tablescape was anchored by a dollar tree placement...placed vintage blue/white dishes stacked on top of a cast iron pan. Red starred napkins on top with an ironstone pitcher filled with blue handled silverware.

I just found the vintage red oil lantern today at a garage sale...

Betsy Ross Patriotic Plate

this lovely Betsy Ross plate was found at the same garage sale today.

Patriotic Window Vignette

Above the table and window another vignette was created.  The red lantern, patriotic platter, and bottles were from my stash in the dungeon.

The chairs were covered with blue bandanas, and pillows from a thrift store with a red thrown over the chair.

I also used the bandanas as small windows curtain and red bandanas were used, a frugal, but quick and cute.

Patriotic Vignette

In the corner I added some blue dishes and napkins.  Also a old quilt blue/white heart and a flag plaque.

Are you done with your Independence day decorating?

  1. I love it all! Now I want to find some blue bandannas for my dining room chair cushions. I've got neutral cushions that say in place without ties, but I've been wanting to make fabric covers for them. I love the look! Thanks for sharing!

  2. I am a sucker for red, white & blue. I love it all, especially your red transferware plate.

  3. Inspiring!

  4. I don't decorate for the 4th of July but I think your kitchen looks wonderful!

  5. Hi Cathy, Three cheers for the red , white and blue! I am so loving the Betsy Ross plate, how cool to find it just in time for the 4th. Everything looks so sweet, with each layer adding charm. Have a great holiday weekend! Love, Penny

  6. I totalloy love this gorgeous patriotic vignette and the Betsy Ross plate in red transferware is perfect for this very patriotic vignette! Great finds my friend.
    Happy 4th. of July week.

  8. I love your patriotic vignettes: red, white and blue together always make a statement. The plate is absolutely amazing!

  9. Your vignettes couldn't have a more perfect background than your wall color. Great job of putting it all together.

  10. Wow this is so pretty and it really pops! :)

  11. Your nook is just darling. Love all your patriotic touches.

    Happy Fourth of July!

  13. Cathy,
I adore your Patriotic decor for the Fourth of July, dear friend!!!
While I admit little was done on the exterior to show celebration,
my heart is with our Service Men and Women and their families.
The daily sacrifices they make to keep our Land that of the free!!!
    Your quilts are amazing!
Thank you for this red, white and blue post, dear one!

Ohhh soooo cuuuute!!! Your such an inspiration Cathy!!!

  15. Hi Cathy, I love your patriotic kitchen nook -- you did a terrific job!! Everything you've displayed is just charming and it all blends together so well. I love to decorate for the Fourth of July, but for some reason, I didn't do it for the past two summers. This year, I'm already decked out! I agree with you that it's important, especially now, to show our patriotic spirit.

Visiting from Home and Garden Thursday; have a wonderful week and a Happy Fourth. :)

  16. What a charming spot! Love all of your patriotic touches!

  17. Hi Cathy,

It's all so patriotic pretty! I especially love the corner with the rooster lamp and plates on the wall, so cozy!!

    Happy 4th!

  18. Cathy- I love seeing all your reds, whites and blues!
That Betsy Ross Plate is I think Homer Laughlin. I have a partial set that belonged to my great grandmother. There are other plates and bowls with different scenes on them...all patriotic in nature. For instance "The Mayflower" and one of Benjamin Franklin "flying a kite" and I think one even has a "covered Wagon" scene.
I liked seeing all of it.

  19. JaneEllen says:

I am loving all of it, so incredible, you have lots of patriotic decorations. Also have great talents to stage it all to it's best. Love all your goodies. Altho it's not a patriotic platter I would love to have platter hung on wall with flowers on it, that style gets me every time. I just hung a big wood flag I made out on front porch railings and a patriotic fabric banner I made this week.
Your home looks so pretty with all your great July 4th. decos. You must have had fun putting it all out. Have great day.

  20. Very Cozy Cathy! I love Americana style and put mine out in June for Flag Day. The lantern and the plate were terrific finds! Thanks for sharing with SYC. Hope you are having a wonderful 4th! We had our traditional breakfast outdoors with the family. What a great time we had!

  21. Cathy,
Your kitchen looks so pretty! I love your bandanas. What a great idea! Beautifully done!

  22. Your kitchen nook looks really cute and very patriotic! I did the same thing, and pulled a kitchen vignette together from things that I already had.

  23. This is so inviting! Love it. Pinned. Thanks so much for being a part of our party! Please join us tonight at 7 pm. We love having YOU!
    Happy Monday! Lou Lou Girls

  24. The kitchen nook looks wonderful. The red, white, and blue decor is spot on for the Fourth of July, and for all of July as far as that goes. Love, Love, Love your nook!
