I haven't been out much the last few weeks, been under the weather. Today hubs and I headed out for an early dinner which unexpectedly turned into an "out 'n' about in the neighborhood excursion.
We were headed to the restaurant, haven't been to in a while, and took a wrong turn. As we were driving down the block I spotted this cute house.

My eye was caught by the cute yellow bicycle filled with mums.

The yellow bicycle looks so pretty against the grey Cape Cod house and decorated for fall. Our area is past the peak fall colors, and most of the leaves are pretty much on the ground.
Construction was going on by the restaurant causing us to head in a different direction also. Again we turned into an area we've not been before!
Once we made the turn I immediately felt like we turned into the "countryside"!

The first building off the street was this cute old horse stable,

with a horse just on the other side (photos taken with my cell phone).

I cropped the picture for a close-up, isn't he pretty! Then there was another stable with these two beauties..

They turned towards us as we pulled over. I just had to get a closer look when the white horse strolled over towards me..

She? had the most curious look on her face when I was about 4 feet from her. The next thing I knew she was giving me this look!

I don't think she liked me being there? Like get the heck out lady - your trespassing! She calmly walked away after letting me know her true feelings.

Well, I guess she's not one for a lot of words!
As we rounded our way out of the area (about 5 blocks) we ended up straight across from this beautiful slough..

I felt like I had entered the twilight zone, this area is about 5 miles from where we live, and I have never seen it before? The sun had set and dark was setting in fast, but there were barns and stables one right after the other in the area.
I will be going back soon! So much more to see.
The moral of the story, there's a whole lot in your neighborhood you've never seen before!

Thanks for taking us on a tour of your neighborhood. I adore that bicycle with the potted flowers. Yep, it's amazing where a wrong turn can take you.
Hi Cathy,
What a delightful drive...thanks for letting me tag along. I loved the darling cottage with the bright yelow bicycle loaded down with flowers. It looked so pretty leaning up against that big ole tree. And those horses seemed ready for company (except that white one...not so sure about him). It's so nice to discover new settings so close to home.
I hope you are feeling better and have a great new week,
Blessings,
Carolynn
That bike is the cutest thing! I'd never thought about using a bike to hold flowers....love it! And I'm a complete sucker for horses....they are so beautiful!
Have a great day!
Christine

Hello again, Cathy! The reason I'm saying "again"...I already left a comment on your post about your dishes. I was just exploring your blog and saw this post & pics...is that lake in Moraine Hills State Park? Sure looks like it. And the little Cape Cod house looks like one in the older section of McHenry, off Rt. 31. Am I right? Love how they have that yellow bike displayed with the mums. Gorgeous!
The yellow bike is great - what an awesome decor piece
Horses are always so pretty too. Glad you are feeling better!
Cathy - What a pretty outing. Love that yellow bike! Such a pop of color in that yard. Glad you had a great day.
