Good morning sweet friends and happy first day of December! More than any other year, this year, I long for an old fashioned Christmas. We’re facing, what could be, a major health crisis for our family. We’ll hopefully know more by the end of the month. Its been torture trying to focus and we’re just keeping ourselves very busy waiting for test and results. So please keep us in your prayers!
My first holiday craft was to start knitting of old fashioned Christmas stockings for us. As soon as the weather turns cooler my knitting needles come out. My passions are seasonal, spring summer – gardening, fall – winter – knitting and quilting, cooking is all the seasons.
I enjoy knitting so much and enjoyed knitted our Christmas stockings.
Once the red one is done I started on a the green one. I used circular needles but once I reached the toes I switched to double point ones. DPN’s are good for knitting in the round when there aren’t many stitches on your needles.
Once both socks where finished I cross-stitched a reindeer on the front of the green one. On a knit piece, you can’t do a typical “X cross-stitch”, but use a duplicate stitch that comes out in a shape of a V.
I am totally not happy with how the duplicate stick reindeer came out…but I’m going to my Friday knitting club and hopefully get some pointers before I start a star on the red stocking.
I’m going to try blocking the red stocking to see if that is what needs to be done.
You know its funny, either there’s not enough light or there’s too much!
