Bo has become sick once again, here!
In the last few days we’ve gone through lab test, x-rays, ultrasounds, MRI and a spinal fluid analysis.
Poor Bo is tuckered and so are we.
Bo spent the night at the hospital preparing for the brain MRI and the spinal tap.
Good news – a stroke and tumor were ruled out!
Bo has 3 cysts in his left side of his brain. The cysts are causing degeneration to his left brain.
The side effects of the degeneration is confusion, loss of equilibrium and weakness.
The results of his spinal fluid showed a high concentration of protein, there should be none.
The two things that can cause this is Distemper and Neospora (a coocodian parasite).
Distemper is fatal, Neospora is treatable.
DID YOU KNOW THAT DOGS WITH CURRENT DISTEMPER VACCINES CAN STILL BECOME INFECTED!
Both cause paralysis by the gradual atrophy and stiffness. In Neosporosis the pelvic limbs are also more seriously affected than the thoracic limbs. As the disease progresses, rigid contracture of the muscles will set in.
So until we get the results back in about a week,
we will continue to make Bo happy and comfortable.
We will help him get up (he can’t on his own now)
and we will carry him outside and back in….
Bo is our fur son, a vital part of our family.
And so, we will continue to wait and pray!
