The last few weeks I’ve been busy out in the greenhouse. I’ve been battling cold and windy nights and to hot temperatures in the green house. Days there are fans in the greenhouse to keep the temperature below 80°. At night I have space heaters and shop lights on to keep the temperatures above 60°!
But its all good, because I am enjoying every moment even with some setbacks.
In the beginning of April after spending the whole day up-sizing my young seedlings I drop two huge trays to the ground? Ugh. Hubs and I were on our knees picking up young seedling off the ground. About 90% of the seedling were saved. So we were back on track.
Last week there were a few night with really high winds, we hunkered down the green house and checked her just before I went to bed, everything good OK. Upon awakening the first thing I do, even before my cup of hot tea, I head outside to check how everyone did overnight.
This is what I found…
The winds were so high, and the greenhouse walls were rocking in and out and any trays were thrown from their racks. When I seen this, and after having dropped several trays a few weeks back, I though I wasn’t making much progress.
But I persevered, and got all the children back in to their own beds.
Some of the plants have really taken off, like..
Hyacinth Runner Bean spreading out her first set of true leaves. Looks like it’s about to take flight. In the background is a Hollyhock. The two times seeds trays dropped/fallen seed got mixed together.
I just transplanted some of my tomato plants to larger containers. Tomatoes do NOT like weather less than 70° so I’ve been bringing them in every night. The plant at the far left is experiencing some transplant shock.
A few other, on the right are Blue Flax, my first time growing them. Left back, Verbena, and in front Stachy. These took forever to sprout, and I don’t think the cooler weather hasn’t helped.
There are so many other plants in the greenhouse but I didn’t want you to be on picture overload.
Have you started any plants from seed?
