In Memory: Laid Back Bo!

We knew it was coming, it was relentless, no matter how hard we fought it back, it would not give up its hold!

Our beloved Laid Back Bo left us yesterday,

Laid Back Bo

this is my most favorite picture of Bo, we tried out a new hair do, and it suited him so well.

Laid Back Bo

Bo was a gentle, kind spirited dog, who gave us overwhelming love, friendship, companionship and joy!

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.

I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.
I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful - lush and green and wide
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.

I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright glow pierced the night
Twas the glow of many candles, shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in it's brilliant shades of gold.

For although we may not be together in the way we used to be
We are still connected by a cord no one can see
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

Laid Back Bo

Our tears flow freely, we are  heartsick, his gentle spirit is hugely missed!

Goodbye Sweet Bo!

  1. Dear Cathy,

I am so sorry to hear about Bo. They live with us for such a short time but stay with us forever in our hearts.

  2. Oh dear, I am so, so sorry. I know your heart is broken for losing this sweet, loving friend. I'm sending you a hug.

  3. I am so very sorry. Bo is a beautiful dog. As with most of us, I think I know how hard this is, most recently when our little dachshund, 15 yrs old had kidney failure. It's been almost 6 weeks now and we miss her so much. Everywhere we look, she is there and I know it must be the same in your house too. It's a sad time and not easy to get through the days and nights. I really hurt for you.

  4. I am so very sorry for your loss.

  5. Cathy, I am so sorry for your loss. They seem to be with us only a short amount of time but they fill our hearts forever..Dear Bo..Judy

  6. Sometimes people say that they understand. Maybe some do. I do understand. I have lost a dog that meant the world to me. It was like a dagger in my heart. I cried; I screamed; I was angry; I was unbearably sad. Those things passed or found their place in my life. I carry my beloved dog within me to this day. I know this will be tough for you for awhile. Have faith. It will get better.

  7. My heart is with you Cathy. Our Max is getting older, his bedtime getting earlier. I can't even imagine your loss. Hugs to you friend!

  8. I saw one of my blog friends re-post this on Facebook and I just had to stop by to say I am so sorry for your loss. Bo was a beautiful dog and I know the pain your feeling....We lost our Boo not long ago and the sadness never leaves you....I Love the poem you posted as it's a bit different then others I have read. My 5 year old granddaughter lost her little dog this weekend and her mother will have to break the news to her tomorrow night when her father brings her home, a recent divorce isn't helping having our Miss B deal with another loss. I would love for her to have this read to her. Where did you find it online so I can send it to my daughter....Thank you and again I feel very bad for your loss.

  9. I really don't know what to say... always a weird feeling to lose a good friend.
A void that cant really be filled.
I lost a rabbit and a dog and I know how terrible it feels.

Goodbye sweet Bo. May you have a great life in Atlantis with mermaids.

  10. Oh Cathy I am so sorry for the loss of your precious Bo. As I read through the poem you posted I can't help but to remember my own childhood dog Boe, and my Blizzard who left me 5 years ago this March after 15 years of love and friendship. Our dear furry 4 legged friends are here for such a short time...they do their job to watch over us and are called home. They also mark time for us and as happy I am to have our 3 year old Buster, I know the day will come when he will leave our family and go to the rainbow bridge. He will leave us about the time Grace and Michael will begin adulthood...again marking the end of an era in our lives. As my sweet husband always tells me..."If God made a life, he will call that life home to be with him again." You gave Bo a beautiful life filled with love...and love is the only thing you take from this world to the next. I know Bo is waiting there for you with a boatload of tail wagging and doggie kisses.
Take care are in my thoughts and prayers.
    XO Barbara

  11. Oh Dear Cathy I'm so sorry about Bo. As soon as I read that he had passed away my tears started for you. There are many people out there that really do understand how hard it is to lose such a wonderful part of your family. They aren't just dogs to us. They make it so easy to fall head over heels for them. Bless your heart.
It's been over 3 yrs. since we lost our Tiny (a black cocker) but I still miss her. If I happen to see a picture of her the tears start. yeah I'm a big baby. She had an immune problem and had been so close to death many times but we'd bring her back with lots of meds and money we didn't have. She was a little over 14 when we finally had to let her go. Our vet didn't even charge us for giving her relief, he could see how devastated we were to lose her.
It took me several months before I was ready for another dog which we have now. The poem you posted is beautiful. It might not help for little while but eventually the grief will soften. We never forget them tho. They'll always live in our hearts. I think about seeing all the dogs we've had when it's my time (I hope so anyway). My heart goes out to you. He looked like such a sweetie. Every time I was on your blog I'd say to myself what a sweetheart he looked like. Our lives are so much richer for the love we share with our pets. May God give you peace.

  12. Your photo's of Bo are beautiful, he even looks like a gentle sweet soul! My heart breaks for you and your family and my prayers are with you. They are such a huge part of lives, the nurturing goes both ways, the companionship, friendship and unconditional love they share with us. It is always hard to lose a member of our families and our pets are a big part of our family lives. You were very lucky that Bo picked you to be his family and you gave him a wonderful life! In time, you will smile when you think of him and be happy for the time you had with him. Hold the memories of Bo close to your hearts... you gave him a great gift of love in releasing him and letting him go!

  13. Cathy and family, my heart goes out to you over the loss of youro dear sweet Bo. I know how hard it is to say goodbye to our furry family members! They bring so much joy to our lives and I know that we make such a positive difference in theirs. May you find peace in the beautiful memories you have of your beloved Laid Back Bo. Healing thoughts and prayers to all! Hugs, Leena

  14. Oh Cathy I am so sorry ((((( ))))) I do know this pain, indeed, from my dear Myndie Ruth ... about the only things that make it tolerable are the thoughts that she has been playing many, many times w/ her beloved Grandpa again - and - poems and posts like yours - bless you!!!

  15. Cathy,
i feel the pain of your loss...
We lost our Savanna over 2 years ago and still it hurts at times... so much so that we can not bring oursleves to go through it again so we will remain without a pet.
I hope this helps a bit:

  16. I know your heart is aching. We are all so sorry for your loss. Blessings and a hug

  17. Bo was a remarkable dog, I feel so sad for your loss. A child once said that the reason dogs don't live as long as people is because dogs have learned the lesson of love and people, we aren't allowed to go until we learn this lesson as well as a dog. I love our dogs, we have three and I have lost a few over the years. Your memories will help heal over time. God bless!!!!!!

  18. Oh how sad! I'm so sorry you lost your Bo. It's heartbreaking to lose our furry friends, but you'll have memories and photos to look back on, and help you through this difficult time.

  19. I'm so sorry to read that post. I know you'll miss him a lot, but I'm sure he had the happiest life and the happiest memories of his time on earth.

  20. I am so sorry for your loss. We lost our Brandon the day after Thanksgiving after an unbelievably short but brutal battle with cancer. Bo was a beautiful dog. xo

  21. I am so sorry for the loss of beautiful Bo. What a part of the family they become in a short period of time. May you be comforted in the memory of all the wonderful years together. Last year was a tough year for us. We lost 3 of our kitty cats and their loss still makes my eyes swell with tears. They are so missed. Be strong dear friend.

  22. Oh Cathy, my heart aches for you!! I am SO very sorry for your loss! Let those tears flow, take all the time you need to grieve and relish in the memories! Lifting you up in prayer, Shelly

  23. Cathy,

  28. Oh, Cathy, I am so sorry about Bo. We lost out dog right after Thanksgiving and there is still an empty spot in our hearts. Our dogs become so much a part of our families. I miss that unconditional, every day love. Prayers for you and yours.

  29. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It is so hard to loose a fur baby. It was a year ago that I lost my little girl & I think of her daily. Bo looks like such a sweetheart. I know you have been trying to reconcile with this for a while. It just isn't an easy part of life. I pray for you and your family.

  30. I'm so sorry.

  31. Oh heart just broke when I read your post today. I am so very sorry about Bo's passing. I know all too well the pain in your heart and the strange void you're feeling throughout your home. I've experienced the same thing many many times throughout the years, and the heartache is almost unbearable. Know that as the days go by, you will always carry sweet, gentle Bo in your soul. And like you wrote...we all get to see our furbabies at The Rainbow Bridge someday.

Heaven has one more angel watching over you now, sweetie. ? Hugs.

    xoxo laurie

  32. Cathy, I am so very sorry for your loss... What a beautiful boy Bo was. I have said goodbye to two furry babies in the past six months, and I still cry for them both. I understand, and I'm sending you a mental hug. All the best from Miami.

  33. I'm so very, very sorry for your loss. Hugs to you. I don't know that time heals wounds like this completely. But it does make it easier over time. Thinking of you...

  34. I am so sorry for your loss. Pets are precious members of our family. They are like kids in our house. You can see how sweet Bo was in the pictures. Hope you and your family are ok.

  35. Oh Cathy I'm so, so sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved Bo. It's so sad that they're only with us for such a short time, but they'll be in our memories forever.
