It’s 3:45 p.m, Mr. Charmer is saying “I don’t care, if you want it, get it! This is Mr. C’s way of not making a decision. He wants me to make the decision! Mr. C uses this tactic in case it doesn’t work out…then it’s not his fault. Does you husband do this too?
Like I was saying, it’s 3:45, the thrift store we are standing in is closing in 15 minutes. They are selling a piece, a very large piece for $35.00. The problem is I don’t know if the piece will work or not. It’s a great price, but will it work? Is it the right size?
So I go for it, and pay for it, but we can’t get it in Mr. C’s SUV! Is this a sign? So I head back in to the thrift store to see if they will give us a credit. On the way in Mr. C calls and says….come back out a guy is going to deliver it to us…right now! Ok?
This is a good sign, right? It’s gonna work, right?
The guy, John, works at the thrift store and lives our way and offers to put it in his truck and drive it to our house. When we arrive home Mr. C and John are hauling it in to the house. Why does something looks so much smaller in a store. The piece is huge!
Here’s a sneak peak, a very bad photo of a sneak peak, but a sneak peak no less!
Mr. C and John are huffing and puffing trying to get his thing in. John is, well yelling out orders about what furniture to move to get it in. Move this, move that! I’m really getting stressed out. Is it gonna fit, moving furniture out of the way and dropping things all over the place!
John starts yelling you (me) pick it up in the middle, I reply, I can’t I’m in PT 4 times a week I can’t help lift this thing. Mr. C has sweat running down his face.
They get it up, Mr. C hands John a $20 and out the door he goes!
Mr. C is happy, he did his job! But guess what….it looks awful, it’s really doesn’t fit. But how in the world can I tell him that now! So I pretend like everything is fine, and Mr. C. says…well now you’ve got a place for all those d.m dishes you’ve been buying!
Oh my, at this point I’ve feeling like a little girl standing in front of her dad looking down on me. A dad who’s going to be very mad if I say anything negative about this piece!
So I do what any little girl would do, I start thinking about putting my d.. dishes in it, and I did!
The dishes look so pretty…
inside the buffet…
I just found this soup tureen for $2.50, and it’s become one of my favorites. I really enjoyed putting my dishes in there. I told Mr. C that all the dishes fit inside. Now I’m a liar…you see I have dishes hidden under the love seats, kitchen banquet, under the bed and some hidden in the trunk of my car! Oh boy am I in trouble.
Then I think, I’m not a child, I’m an adult woman who has lived a very full life…
Here’s a picture with the doors closed, what I liked about this buffet is the wire doors, with a little work and paint it could look cottagey!
But it is huge, and the Charmer is small, this looks gigantic! I know what you are thinking, your thinking, oh tomorrow it will look fine. But it won’t, it’s huge, and ends just 4″ below our crown molding!
Do you know how I’m feeling right now? I feel like Scarlett O’Hara from Gone With the Wind. Remember when she’d say….
I can’t think about that right now. If I do, I’ll go crazy. I’ll think about that tomorrow. After all tomorrow is another day!
I hope you’ll join us April 6ht, for Sunday’s Best #60 this Sunday. New time 9:00 am!
