I’ve been working on “holidizing” my dining room sideboard.
The first project was to glam up my lamp a bit…
If you want to see what I did, check out my tutorial.
Started pulling out a few items to start decorating when I decided I needed a Holiday Runner!
I pulled out some burlap and a plaid cotton I already had in my stash!
After measuring the buffet – I wanted the runner to be a 102″ long x 14″ rectangle.
So I added 1″ to each end of the 4 sides (for seams) to 104′ x 16″ wide. Finished all 4 sides by turning in 1/2″, press, and 1/2″ again, followed by top stitching.
Simple, right? Next I wanted the runner’s ends to have 4 ruffles on each side.
So I ripped 6″ wide strips of the plaid fabric, finished the short sends (turn in, press, turn in again). Next fold the fabric in half, right sides together.
Sewed a gather stitch down the strip, then sewed 4 strips to the side ends to the burlap, spacing the bottom of each ruffle 1 1/2″ higher then the previous one. After all four were stitch down, I stitch red chenille down over the top row to hide the stitching line.
Here’s how it looks with the ruffles…
Looked a little bare to me….
Here’s what it looks like on the runner ends…
Got to go, have to start dressing her up, I’m so behind!!!
