I’ve been looking
for nightstands for our bedroom
for a very long time.
Well, the wait is finally over!
Aren’t they cute (2 identical ones)?
But, they weren’t what I had imagined! We were driving down alleys (old part of town) the night before garbage pickup when we spotted a vintage headboard that had cracked in half. The closer we got we see that there were two nightstands still ATTACHED to each headboard end!
The price was right – FREEBIE –loved the detail work — and TWO matching dresser’s were also standing there, just waiting for us to take them. So we loaded all or it in to our SUV, and off we went.
When we got home we sawed each nightstand off from the headboard, then moved all the pieces into the garage with at least 17 other pieces out there. Mr. Charmer just keeps giving me that look. Come on be hones, you know that look!
There they sat, and sat, and sat until we decided to tackle them before winter set in (our garage isn’t heated).
You can see where they use to be attached to the headboard….and the new molding piece on top.
This end sides face in toward the bed. The top piece of the nightstand (white) were completely broken off except for 2″ piece of the curved end on one nightstand. How Lucky!
Removed the wood piece, and traced it out on paper. Then we printed out a “Mirror” image for other side. We played with a scrape piece of wood until the length fit just right. Mr. Charmer also scrolled it so it would match the original piece.
You wouldn’t know they weren’t original, would ya?
Closeup of details, we felt lucky it came with the original hardware, just cleaned it up a bit!
The body was painted with Rust-oelum Heirloom White, and we stained the top with dark walnut, then applied two coats of poly.
Both are decorated with a few fall delights. They’re residing on either side of our bed, which is now not in our bedroom!
Can’t show the rest of bedroom since it’s under a MAJOR RENOVATION!
Luv.ing them anyways!
