This is the year we finally put our DECK #1 on our “Summer” Project list. Our first step was to create a Project List to keep us on track.
What, did I hear you say? What progress have we made so far? So glad you asked!
Removed every last piece of junk/furniture from deck
Sweep 1,000,000 Silver Maple whirling birds off deck Removed lattice sheets from top of arbor Jacked up northwest corner up 2″ Replace rotten deck boards Cut out decking around Green Ash tree (tree’s getting too big) Replaced rotten wood columns with new fiberglass columns Spray wash deck Stained deck Bordeaux by Behr Painted arbor white Painted new fiberglass columns white
We sure have made progress, but if your like me you’d like to see some VIS.U.ALS!
Well that’s kind of out of the way. We strategically placed the lattice here. Why? To act as a brace, just in case we should happen to trip on the garden hose, and fall to the left. Good thinkin! Wow – that lattice sure is dirty!
We jacked up the northwest corner – talk about “sagging”. Hate to say it, but the deck boards aren’t the only things sagging in my life lately! But let’s not go there!
See how big this tree has gotten.
Next Mr. Charmer started removing the ROTTEN wood columns. Here you see it….
We stained the deck (we confess – we didn’t exactly follow the sequence of the Project List) with Behr Bordeaux semi-transparent stain.
Wow, the majority of the hard labor work is done, YEAH! Now the fun part begins – hanging drop cloth curtains, painting the old patio furniture (see in the right corner of deck), sewing cushions, finding outdoor area rugs.
Once we complete those projects the BEST and most FUN of the project beings – “Dressing this big bad baby up”!
