We hubs just finished taking down all the Christmas decorations.
He’s lucky that it was 30° warm here so all the outside decorations are put away too!
Eeekkk!!!! My mantel is looking so bare!
I don’t want to rush into Valentine’s decor just yet, I want to enjoy winter for awhile since it’s my favorite time of the year.
Who would think that a Midwestern girl like myself actually likes winter. Most everyone complains about it.
Not me, I thrive in winter and I love the cold, the snow, love seeming my breath as I walk outside the door on a cold day.
The holidays are so stressful and I wanted a simple, calming atmosphere!
I found this mirror in our garage stash..
I can’t even remember what piece of furniture it belong to?
The birch basket was used during the holidays – I just added some moss, filled with pine cones and added a cardinal ornament.
One of my favorite holiday finds was 4 Cardinal ornaments at GW, while I was putting this together I dropped and broke one – UGH!
I wanted to use the old red rake to hang the remaining cardinal ornaments and hung it using burlap.
I scoured the house looking for “winter” items.
I found the winter picture last year at a local thrift store. I used upholstery jute to wrap a straw wreath and added a pine cone.
The candlesticks were gold and I sprayed painted with ORB! The birch candle were used on the holiday mantel. Stacked some old books on top of the small bench with a key leaning against them.
I had this picture of a very old church for some time and is a favorite of mine, it seemed to fit right in.
A very simple, calming winter mantel. I love it! Soothes my nerves!
Have you been winterizing your vignettes.
