Last week was one of those kind of weeks where nothing ran smoothly. Wednesday morning my car’s passenger tire blew out. Not able to get a hold of Mr. C, I left my car, walked in the freezing cold (no gloves or hat) to find shelter until I could reach him. Later on we bought a new set of tires and within 5 hours the same tire blew again?
As it turned out the rear axle spring broke ripping into the tire causing the tires to blow out. All in total it cost $1,365 ($555 for four tires, $135 for the second tire, and $675 to fix the broken spring). Yada…
So I was feeling kind of low…but my day brightened because of a blogging friend. When I got home I found a package at my front door. Hmmmm…..I didn’t remember ordering anything? After taking off the outer wrapping I found this pretty red and heart wrapping on the box inside.
Isn’t it pretty? At this point the excitement was getting to me and my mind was whirling about who’s it from and what’s inside?
There was a note (private) tucked inside…from Carol, Art and Sand! If you’ve never been to her blog do yourself a favor and visit.
A vintage french sugar and creamer set. So cute!
Also an ever so cute burlap garden banner. The perfect place to hang it, my kitchen window, where I see my garden from. I went from feeling down to feeling quite special! Thanks Carole!
It’s been sunny out and last few days so I headed out for a winter walk. My favorite time of the year to walk/hike is winter. With the sun shinning bright it looked a lot warmer than it was, the blowing winds of IL can be brutal so I didn’t last as long as I wanted, about 1 1/2 miles.
I stopped along the way to take a few photos of homes in our part of town.
Brick cottage, it has the same arched front door the Charmer has. She always has her home decorated through out the seasons.
A pretty grey farmhouse.
This ranch has such a peaceful appeal to it. It’s situated on a wooded lot. In our part of town, the old section, is full of tall old maples and oaks. We use to have many ash trees too but the Emerald Ash borer has taken it’s toll.
This cute white cottage is on the block up from ours. I can see it from our bedroom window. In the back is a very charming sun room and the kitchen opens to it. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve been so tempted to knock on the door and ask to see the inside!
A charming yellow farmhouse. I was lucky to be inside and it’s as pretty inside as outside.
I just love this home, the yellow color reminds me of the Charmer. I often think this home belongs on a lake. There’s just something that draws me in.
Did you notice most of the homes still have some of their holiday decor up….it’s been to darn cold to take it down.
Even though the week started a little rough, having a blogger friend like Carol, and a few sunny days for a winter walk can make the days a whole lot better.
