I’ve been ready for a color change (cottage blue color) in the kitchen for the longest time. I procrastinate about it because I have the hardest time picking our the “perfect” color. In our upstairs bedroom at one point I’ve had 8 different sample colors on the walls. Sometimes I want to go back to the days of less options…seemed easier then? But I found the perfect new cottage blue color!
The blue in the kitchen before…
when our kitchen was remodeled I decorated it in French Country and transitioned back to cottage..the french blue doesn’t really fit in with the Charmer.
The Charmer is meant to be cottage!
A sneak peak of the new cottage blue color..
The color is showing a little on the grey side here, but isn’t! Several years back I purchased some cotton material from Hobby Lobby, and had intended to use it for the kitchen curtains.
The fabric is what I used to color match for the kitchen, and the blue is showing true here!
In the light it shows better and these two photos were taken on the back wall where light does not shine on.
I love to decorate with thrift store oil paintings. The pansies just drew me in and the colors are gorgeous.
The Lilly’s of the Valley are in full bloom in the garden and were my maternal grandmother’s favorite flower. Grandma’s name was Mamie, and when her family came over on the boat they changed their ever so pretty French name Drouillard to Doll (so many of our ancestors changed their names at Ellis Island). She was the tiniest woman, but tough, very tough!
I took enough clippings for the kitchen and our bedroom. They look so pretty and the wonderful fragrance fills both rooms.
I’m waiting to hang all the accessories in the kitchen before I do a reveal…but I’ve had a little snafu! I was placing new linens on the living area love seats, and as I bent over to tuck them in, I felt a painful stab in my lower right side..just below my waist. All I did was bend over?
I can’t get comfortable, sitting hurts, laying down hurts, bending over hurts so I try to stand as much as I can right now. Going to get some acupuncture on Wednesday and I sure hope it helps.
Gosh between my knees and now my back I’m certainly feeling older, not old, just older!
Did any of your ancestors change their name at Ellis Island?
