A Late Summer Vignette
I know we are in the last week of August, and less than a month away from Fall beginning, but I wanted to keep summer around for a bit more. It's 90° here in the land of Lincoln!
I love my arched fireplace...the original fireplace was painted with very thick dark brown paint. It was a shame since there was some very nice stone on it. My family is in masonry and my brother Michael re-bricked the fireplace maintaining the integrity of the original arch. At the time I couldn't afford very much so I bought a piece of "ruff" cut pine for the mantel for $79.00.
The cherub was borrowed from our front porch, everything on the mantel is from around the house except the birdcage. Mr. Charmer and I went for a walk and stumbled upon a garage sale.
On the right side... a small straw blue hat, my new-old birdcage find for $4.00, flowers from the garden (mostly phlox, some hosta flowers and dried Meadow Rue flower heads) candlestick with small flower oil painting.
The little oil painting is one of my favorites, and has prettied up any area she's landed in our home.
On the left...another one of my most favorite oil paintings, borrowed from the staircase wall, vintage books, ironstone pitcher made in Finland filled with hydrangea and phlox and a white vase with ivy inside.
Asters are in the blue glass jar.
I love old books, and instead of content I've been checking out the book's cover color.
A few angled shots of the vignette...
So, since I just saw the weather forecast is predicting 90° for at least the next 10 days, I'll be keeping it up!!!
