Day 3 of my pillow challenge..
Today’s pillow is a flower pillow using a satin like fabric.
The felt is for the flower and the embroidered fabric is the pillow base. Making a 15″ square pillow, and cut out a 16″ square.
I cute a 7 1/2″ circle out of the felt for the base of the flower.
I free handed a flower shape (most shapes have 5, but made this one with 6) and leaf. I cute out 100 flowers (ugh) and 2 leaves.
Placed the leaves on the right side of the front pillow panel…
I slipped stitch both leaves to secure to fabric (yes I need a manicure).
After cutting out 100 petals (ugh again) I started attaching to the circle. Initially I was going to hand stitch each one down, but after 15 I said NO WAY and hot glued the other 85 down. Yeah!!
After all 100 petals are attached..
I positioned the flower over the leaves…
I lifted the outside petals and slipped stitched the flower to the pillow front.
Next I placed pillow fabric right sides together, and stitched around 3 sides, stuffed and hand stitched the last side closed.
I’m so loving this flower pillow. So much more elegant than the Petal Pillow.
I found this cute little berry glass bottle from HomeGoods yesterday, $4.99, the perfect color with my new main living area color theme.
So pretty, if I say so myself!
